Maarit Kahila | Author
Maarit Kahila is the CEO and co-founder of Mapita, the company behind Maptionnaire. She has her background in planning geography from University of Helsinki and urban planning from Aalto University. Her research focused on new methods for enabling and encouraging wider public participation. In her dissertation, she studied the opportunities for urban planners to take advantage of public participation GIS to get ideas and insights from residents. With this background, she brought her research expertise to the centre of technological innovation for participatory planning and founded Maptionnaire in 2011. Currently, Maptionnaire is a citizen engagement platform used in more than 40 countries by cities, consultancies, and research institutions.
