The Centre on African Public Spaces connects key actors across different spaces and communities in Africa to learn from and build with each other. At its core, CAPS creates and hosts locally-informed content to help expand and advance our collective understanding of public spaces in African cities.
Initially established by the City of Johannesburg, in response to the 2018 Africities Summit’s call for a regional knowledge-sharing platform on public spaces, CAPS has become the first multidisciplinary initiative formed in collaboration with the UN-Habitat Global Public Space Programme and the GIZ Inclusive Violence and Crime Prevention Programme.
Join the conversation as we work to create vibrant, safe, inclusive, accessible African cities centred on #AfricanPublicSpaces.
