MaPS. Mastering Public Space is a web magazine hosting a collection of public space news in open access format from influential and reliable sources, curated by a cross-disciplinary team of researchers and practitioners committed to spread awareness on the importance of public space in cities.
It is co-founded by City Space Architecture, a non-profit organisation promoting public space culture globally through multiple projects and initiatives, and Genius Saeculi, a for-profit company working on Digital Humanities, both based in Bologna, Italy.

MaPS. Mastering Public Space website is divided several sections:
– aggregation of existing contents available on the internet in open access format, from all geographical locations, ‘News by locations’, with a focus on ‘COVID-19‘ and ‘Global‘ reports and initiatives;
– aggregation of existing useful ‘Resources‘ with selected readings and recommended books, video lectures, podcasts, together with events on public space at the global level, such as workshops, lectures, summer/winter schools, conferences and symposia promoted by Universities, Institutions and NGOs, and open calls for projects, conferences, fellowships, grants, events;
– aggregation of existing contents related to ‘Cultural Districts‘, a curated collection provided by GCDN – Global Cultural District Network;

– aggregation of existing contents related to ‘Creative practices‘, ‘Design‘ and ‘Policies‘, with presentation of innovative art-based and creative transformation or activation of public space, design concepts and implementation and existing or future polices for effective urban governance on public space;
– publication of new contents, ‘Our Editorials‘, from the global community of members and public space lovers affiliated to City Space Architecture.

The first MaPS. Mastering Public Space event, organized by City Space Architecture, took place in Rome, Italy, in 2015 with a workshop at the Biennial of Public Space and a symposium + exhibition at MAXXI B.A.S.E., engaging scholars, academic professors, city managers, designers, artists and citizens from more than 25 international institutions, interested to promote a critical reflection on cities and urbanity, in a multidisciplinary field of action.
